What Is a Confirmation Statement?

Previously known as an annual return, a confirmation statement is a yearly account for Companies House which updates them about any changes to the directors, secretary, registered office address, shareholders, share capital and people with significant control.

You must file this once every 12 months, with the first confirmation statement due a year after your date of incorporation.

Important: The Confirmation Statement is not to be confused with annual accounts. Annual accounts are financial accounts, profit & loss etc. Both, however, are legally required to be filed to Companies House on an annual basis. If you are unsure which is due please contact us and we can check for you.

What Details Do I Need To File My Confirmation Statement?

If you have formed your company with us, we do not require any additional information to file your confirmation statement. In the rare case that we do, we will email you.

If you choose our DIY package, you will need the following information:

• Principal Business Activity (if you have not already specified this) – we will provide a list for you to choose from.
• Details of any changes to your shareholders (transfers, issue of shares etc)
• That’s it. Our system does the rest!
